Mountain Chalet is Colorado’s oldest specialty outdoor shop. We serve climbers, skiers, backpackers, and runners who see living the mountains not as a trend, but as life.  This Mountain Life is the heartbeat and culture of the Chalet. You feel it within your first few steps of the shop - the feeling of excitement, community, history and adventure. Our passion for the lifestyle, excitement for our customers, and playful approach has led to our success for nearly 60 years and made the Chalet the outdoor equipment leader in Colorado.

A Home Built for Mountain People

At Mountain Chalet, the mountains are our Ethos.  You know you have it when you feel that change in mind, body, and soul as you enter mountain terrain.  It's hard to describe but easy to feel and when it hits you, you know it.  We exist to help others discover this connection to these summits.  Our authentic engagement, deep knowledge, and lived experience, allow us to deliver service equal to the mountains and the people that inspire us.  

Mountain Minded

At Mountain Chalet we believe the best customer engagement comes from a simple idea: knowledge is taught, experience is lived.  Our team trains in the "classroom", but learn in the mountains through On‑Sights, our company outings where staff step into the gear, terrain, and sports that define us. Employees receive over 8 On‑Sight days each year to deepen their skills through real application.

For senior staff, we offer something rare in retail: an adventure sabbatical, Wallace Works — up to four paid weeks plus gear, to chase a personal mountain dream.  Because lived experience not only strengthens the skills that matter but also, deepens how we engage with our customers and our community.
