North Cheyenne Canyon is a 1,600 acre+ city park that has climbing, hiking, and mountain biking. It is likely one of the earliest climbing areas in the state. There is little doubt that Albert Ellingwood and even others before him ventured up some of the crags in the canyon.
It is comprised mostly of Pikes Peak Granite with the rock quality getting better the higher you go up the canyon. There are 140+ trad, sport, and boulder problems in the canyon along with some ice climbing in the winter.
A paved road and Cheyenne Creek run the length of the bottom of the canyon. There are many great hiking and mountain biking trails so it can be a very busy place during the summer and on nice weekends.
